Bus & Coach Body Repairs
A bus or coach carries passengers, which changes what “repaired” actually means. An emergency exit door has to open properly again, not just look straight. A wheelchair lift has to function to spec, not just close flush. Seatbelt anchor points have to hold their structural integrity, not just have the upholstery put back over them. Most panel shops never touch this equipment — we work on it regularly, for transit operators running fixed routes and charter operators running a business on their vehicle’s uptime.
That’s the difference at Max Smash Repairs: a full-length paint bay and lifting gear sized for a coach, and a repair process that treats passenger-facing equipment as part of the job, not an afterthought.
What We Do
Body and Panel Repairs
Collision damage and structural checks appropriate to a full-length body — including the large glazed panel areas that make up most of a coach’s side profile.
Emergency Exit and Door Alignment
Emergency exit and passenger doors are refitted and function-tested after any repair touching their frame — an exit that looks fine but doesn’t open freely isn’t repaired.
Wheelchair Lift, Ramp & Accessibility Equipment
Where a collision has damaged a wheelchair lift or ramp housing, we repair and reinstate it to proper working function.
Full and Partial Repaints
Livery colour matching across a single vehicle or a full fleet, using PPG-authorised colour matching.
Roof-Mounted Air Conditioning & Signage Housings
Roof-mounted AC units and destination sign housings repaired and resealed properly.
Interior and Seatbelt Anchor Coordination
We coordinate repairs to interior fittings and seatbelt anchor points damaged alongside bodywork.
Passenger Safety & Compliance
Buses and coaches carrying the public sit under accessibility and safety expectations a private car doesn’t. A repair that leaves any of this cosmetically fine but functionally compromised isn’t actually finished.
We build function testing of doors, exits and accessibility equipment into the repair process itself, and can talk through what’s involved if your vehicle needs sign-off by your own compliance team.

Why Max Smash Repairs
Passenger Equipment Function-Tested
Doors, emergency exits and accessibility equipment checked for proper function, not just appearance.
Transit & Charter Experience
Experienced scheduling repairs around fixed timetables and charter booking calendars alike.
Full-Length Facility
Floor space and paint-baking capacity actually sized for a coach, not a car bay stretched to fit one.
Common Bus and Coach Damage We Repair
Buses and coaches accumulate a particular pattern of damage — a lot of it low-speed, repetitive and operational rather than dramatic. These are the jobs we see most from Sydney transit and charter operators.
Mirror, Corner and Clearance Damage
The most frequent bus job by volume. Tight depot turns, narrow streets, parked cars and low branches take out mirrors, front and rear corner mouldings and roof-line trim. Individually minor, but on a fleet it adds up — and a bus with a damaged mirror is not going out on a route.
Passenger Door and Emergency Exit Damage
Door frames take constant cycling and are easily distorted by even a light impact. Where an exit door has been affected, the repair is not finished when the panel is straight — it is finished when the door opens correctly under its own release, which is what we function-test before sign-off.
Wheelchair Lift and Ramp Damage
Kerb strikes and loading incidents damage ramp housings, kneeling mechanisms and lift platforms. This equipment is part of your accessibility obligation, not a cosmetic fitting, so we repair it to working function and test it rather than closing the housing up neatly.
Large Glazed Panel and Window Surround Damage
Most of a coach side profile is glass. Impacts around window surrounds and pillars need care because the glazing bond line is structural on many modern bodies — patching the visible damage without addressing the surround leads to water ingress and rattles later.
Roof-Line, Air Conditioning and Signage Housings
Roof-mounted AC units, destination sign housings and hatches. Low-clearance strikes are common, and roof repairs that are not properly resealed are one of the most frequent causes of persistent water leaks into a passenger cabin.
Rear-End and Depot Manoeuvring Damage
Rear panels, engine bay doors, lighting clusters and bumper assemblies. Like truck loading dock damage, this tends to be repetitive, and we are happy to talk through where protection would save you repeat repairs.
Transit Routes and Charter Calendars
Public transit operators and private charter businesses have very different constraints, and scheduling has to respect that. A route bus has to be back before the next timetabled service block. A charter coach has bookings weeks out, and the cost of a missed booking is not just the job, it is the client relationship.
We schedule around your operating calendar where possible rather than a first-in first-out workshop queue, and we tell you early if something is going to run over. For operators with several vehicles affected at once, we will work through them in the order that keeps the most services running.
We repair school buses, route service buses, charter and tour coaches, mini-buses and community transport vehicles — including accessible vehicles with lift and ramp equipment.
Repaints That Match the Rest of the Fleet
A repainted panel that is a shade off is obvious on a bus, because the vehicle is large, flat-sided and frequently parked next to identical units. Our PPG-authorised colour matching and mixing software matches to the existing livery rather than to the original factory code, which matters on older vehicles where the paint has weathered.
Our paint bay takes a full-length coach without sectioning the job, and we handle full rebrands as well as collision repaints — useful if you are refreshing a fleet identity or bringing a second-hand vehicle into your own colours.
Vehicle unable to be driven in? We arrange pick-up and delivery across Western Sydney and greater Sydney, including Fairfield, Wetherill Park, Prospect, Blacktown, Parramatta, Liverpool, Silverwater and surrounding suburbs.
Commercial and Fleet Insurance Claims
We are an approved repairer for all major insurance companies for commercial and heavy vehicle claims, and can liaise directly with your insurer or fleet manager to confirm scope and approval. For operators self-insuring a portion of their fleet, we can quote in a format that suits internal approval processes.
Where passenger safety equipment is involved in a claim — exits, restraints, accessibility equipment — we document what was tested and confirmed working, so you have that record for your own compliance file.
Other Heavy Vehicles We Repair
Buses and coaches are one of three specialties under the same roof. Many of the operators we work with run mixed fleets, and we can handle the lot on one account.
Truck & Prime Mover
Cab and panel repairs, laser chassis straightening, fleet repaints, tail lift and hydraulic repairs.
ExploreCrane & Heavy Plant
Structural, boom and outrigger repairs, heavy-duty coatings, custom fabrication.
