What Photos to Take
A quote is only as good as the photos it’s based on. These six shots cover what an estimator needs to see — a phone camera is completely fine.
1. All Four Corners
Stand back far enough to get the whole vehicle in frame, from each corner. This shows us the overall shape and whether anything is sitting out of line.
2. Straight-On Damage Shot
Square to the damaged area, from about two metres back. Include some undamaged panel either side so we can judge the extent.
3. Close-Ups
Within arm’s reach of the worst damage. Get the creases, splits, and any exposed metal edges.
4. Panel Gaps and Joins
Photograph where the damaged panel meets its neighbours. Uneven gaps are the clearest sign of structural movement behind the panel.
5. Underneath, If Safe
For a heavy impact, a shot along the chassis rail from front or rear helps enormously. Only if it’s safe to do so — never go under an unsupported vehicle.
6. Compliance Plate
The build plate or VIN plate. It confirms the exact model and build date, which affects parts availability.
Getting Better Photos
Shoot in daylight where you can. Workshop fluoro lighting hides dents and flattens creases. Outdoors on an overcast day is ideal — bright direct sun creates hard shadows that hide as much as they show.
Wipe the area down first if it’s covered in road grime. Dirt hides scratches and makes it hard to tell paint damage from panel damage.
Don’t crop or filter. Send the originals. Photo filters change colour, and colour is exactly what we’re assessing for a paint match.

Questions About the Process
Is a photo quote binding?
It’s an estimate based on what’s visible. On most panel and paint work it will be close. Where there’s structural damage, some of it only becomes apparent once panels come off — we’ll flag that upfront rather than surprise you later.
Do I need to lodge an insurance claim first?
No. Plenty of operators get a quote first to decide whether claiming is worth it against the excess and premium impact. We can quote either way, and we deal with all major insurers if you do claim.
What if the vehicle can’t be driven?
Tell us in the form and we’ll arrange pick-up. We collect across Western Sydney and the greater Sydney region.
